| Public details: WELCOME, FLYING PIG PARADE PARTICIPANTS!
To our Group Leaders:
We are thrilled have you marching with us in our third annual Flying Pig Parade on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 2 p.m.
You are responsible to get your group to the proper place in our line up area on time. The first group will begin parading at 2 and the last, around 2:30. Our announcer will call out your group's name when you begin. Remember when marching, don't get too close (closer than 20 feet, to the group in front of you.
Below is more helpful information.
Arrival: All groups will line up in Bo Diddley Plaza between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3d. Some come early to buy t-shirts, assemble their giant puppets, practice their moves, and to mingle with other groups. There' a party atmosphere in Bo Diddley Plaza once the clock strikes twelve. There will be over over 55 marching this year, a new record!
When you arrive look for “Big Pig Volunteers" wearing pink Santa hats. One of them will tell you your group’s number. Group numbers are marked on the sidewalks and walkways in Bo Diddley Plaza. Gather your group at that numbered spot.
The parade begins at 2 p.m. By 1:45 your group should be in place, ready to march. The groups lined up is like a party in itself with music in the air and happy, costumed people all around.
When the parade begins at 2 your group will slowly move behind the groups in front of you until it is your turn to begin. At that point, Gregg and Stan, our emcees, will announce your group to adoring fans.
THE PARADE-You’ll march three blocks south on SE 1st Street (that’s where most of the crowd is) until you reach the Hippodrome Theater. At that point you turn left, then left again at the next block. The parade ends there. Two wide pedestrian alleyways lead back to the Plaza where the parade began. See attached map.
A few groups might want to go around twice. That’s okay if you do it before 2:50 p.m. At 3 p.m. the parade ends and our concert, ”Bo Diddley’s Birthday Bash”, begins in the Plaza. T |
