Date: FRIDAY JANUARY 17
Location: Manatee Springs State Park 11650 NW 115 St. Chiefland, Fl.
Fee: State Park Pass or $6 per vehicle.
Leader:: Nancy Henry
Time: Be ready to walk at 12 noon. Arrive 15 minutes before to sign in.
Description: This will be a 4.5 mile hike. Manatees are in town, we will stroll along the boardwalk from the main Spring to the Suwanee most likely we will see manatees. Then we head out into the beautiful Scenic Trail, which is very easy footing, and little change in elevation. After hike we can lounge and lunch at the park or the restaurant of groups choice.
Directions: Exit Gainesville using FL 24. Go to Bronson, then take Alt US 27 towards Chiefland. From intersection of US 19/98 and 27 in Chiefland head north on 98 for .8 mi then turn left onto SR320. Continue 5.8 miles to Manatee Springs State Park. Pass ranger station follow main park road for half mile, trailhead parking is on right.
General Information: Binoculars are handy for the bird population and even manatee viewing
