Public details: The fire department needs the lunch money to outfit their volunteers. Apparently, a full fire suit runs over $11,000.00... holy zucchini!
The Windsor Zucchini Festival is the best local festival around besides the art festivals. A fun event with YUMMY food ($10 a plate gets you fried chicken, slaw, zucchini corn bread--it's MIGHTY tasty) there are events for kids, and crafts and plant vendors. It's a charming little festival in a cute town and hey, it helps benefit the VOLUNTEER fire department, so attendance is a good deed. PLUS, a good portion of the event takes place under a tree canopy, so even if it's beastly hot, you'll be in shade.
Plenty of parking, and they have hay wagons to transport folks who park up by the church. (Free)
Go hungry so you can get a plate of food!
They do a limited run of zucchini ice cream, which is actually kind of good! |
