| Public details: The course for 2014 will feature a loop course beginning at the picnic area near Lake Wauburg and traverse through the Paynes Prairie savannah along the Lake Trail. Racers will continue onto an unmarked trail through a highly secluded area of the park that is generally not open to the public. This portion of the race course is flat with a very small portion of sand.
Racers will eventually be directed onto the main road inside of the park, Savannah Boulevard, for a scenic second half of their race. At the intersection of the trail and road, there will be a hydration station, which is about halfway through the course. The remaining section of the race is along the road leading back to the picnic area (both on Savannah Blvd. and Puggy Road) and terminating by the parking lot and finisher’s area! The course is known to host a variety of wildlife unique to Florida such as deer, tortoises, and birds! |
